Upgrading the railway line, stage I (Trnava - Piešťany)2004-2007

The purpose of the works was primarily the overall upgrading of the line within the scope of the AGC and AGTC treaties. The upgrade of the double-track Trnava - Nové Mesto nad Váhom line within the Trnava - Piešťany stretch consisted of two island platforms, nine one-sided platforms, three railway stations and two inter-station stretches. The efforts also included the construction of five new railway bridges as well as reconstruction of seven existing bridges, five road bridges, eight underpasses, the luggage tunnel and the footbridge for pedestrians. The refurbishment of the Leopoldov railway station - an important railway node in the region - was the most complicated part of the works.
