The project was divided into four comprehensive parts, UČS 02 to UČS 06; it consists of three inter-station stretches: Bratislava-Rača - Svätý Jur - Pezinok - Šenkvice. The line includes intermediary refurbished railway stations, Svätý Jur, Pezinok and Šenkvice, as well as two stopping points. This stretch involved the development of three new railway bridges and one road bridge; two railway bridges and one road bridge underwent refurbishment. In addition, an underpass was built for passengers and ten at-grade crossings were transformed into grade-separated crossings with varying levels of security. The purpose of the project was upgrading the railway line as being the part of the European railway corridor No. V, providing an adequate access to the trans-European traffic network as well as good connection to the neighbouring countries, and reaching compliance with the AGC/AGTC standards. Within the works, the railway flyover of Šenkvice was the most important structure.
This bridge of pre-stressed concrete with a length of 753 metres is a unique structure throughout the Slovakia’s railway lines. The successful struggle for the option of a concrete bridge is an extraordinary achievement of Doprastav not only from a technical point of view, but also in terms of implementing and the environmental impact. The works commenced in March 2003 and became completed in July 2005. The project cost was 10 459 013 € excluding VAT.
