The project involves a bypassing of the town of Baku to connect the M1 Baku - Quba and the M2 Baku - Alat motorways. As the suburban areas of Baku enlarge, the R6 road has the potential to serve as the outer bypass of the capital city in the long-term. The refurbishment of this 41.4-km long road is to follow the original route, whilst improving its operational parameters, e.g. geometry, surface quality, and safety. The works is accessible from two sides - either from the city of Sumqayit/Tagiyev or from the city of Sahil. The main sub-contract between Doprastav and AzerInsaatServis was signed on 14 December 2009 as a back-to-back contract and covered the entire volume of work.
