The settings, in which the site is located, is a typical example of a industrial periphery of the city of Banská Bystrica. It completely fits into the surrounding settings and with its architectural design and the cultivationt hat has been carried out on the surrounding areas it significantly increases the quality of these settings. The operation of the company Phoenix Zeppelin in Banská Bystrica is its newly built established for all of Slovakia - sales, servicing and the rental of construction machines. The architectural design of the building is mainly related to the atrium on the northern side. This concept is based on the necessity to protect the administration from disturbances coming from the adjacent speedway and in the summer to block the low sunlight during mornings and evening in the summer - the individual wings of the building around the atrium provide shade for each other. The atrium creates an entrance into the building and optically makes the interior more natural - with greens, rain or snow. The atrium in the interior of the building changes into a hall with first-contact workplaces that changes into galleries on the top floors, which are surrounded by open-office workplaces of the administrative departments. In this way the company is clearly grouped around the spaces of the atrium and the hall where clients walk about. The facades are technical. The logical outcome for the metallic look of the buildings exteriors is the focus on mechanical engineering that this company has. An interesting material for the sheathing of the building is made of perforated aluminum sheets – mesh -, compositionally supplemented with the surfaces of tiles from compact boards in a yellow-orange color typical for this company. The silver mesh makes the building optically uniform and serves as a necessary shielding system on the eastern and western facades and when the sun is shining on it, it reflects the beams in an interesting way. Even the energy concept of the building is interesting. Not just the investment, but also the operating costs are important. The above-standard thermal and technical parameters of the external cladding, the usage of heat pumps as a heat source, complex HVAC air-conditioning control of the indoor climate with recuperative energy recovery when ventilating etc. secure a minimalisation of the operating costs for heating and cooling.
