At the beginning of section the motorway route connects to the D1 Ladce - Sverepec project and continues via a hilly territory outside built-up areas where bridges take turns with cuts. On the ridge of the hill of Šibeničník above the settlements of small gardeners the D1 motorway is situated in shallow cuts and on the ground; from this area onwards, it runs into the River Váh alluvial plain via a flyover bridging the built-up area of the town of Považská Bystrica. The passage of the route above the town is situated outside the city centre - in the narrowest place at the boundary of residential and industrial zones, the height is 30 - 40 m above the ground. This stretch includes an extensive resting area with a view of the town, the river valley and the castle of Považský hrad.
Bridge 206 - a city flyover
Ranked among the top works of bridge construction industry, the structure spans over the steep terrain spur of the hill of Šibeničník and crosses over the town’s urban area while bridging the railway track and the bed of the River Váh. It takes both of the motorway directions along a single bearing structure consisting of a continuous girder with ten spans. In the longitudinal direction the bridge runs within a constant gradient of 2%. The lower structure of the main bridge spans has deep foundations formed by micro piles, the diameter of 159 mm. The main bridge spans are designed for the technology of the free cantilever concreting method; this is carried out using stubs on supports No. 5 to No. 11 while considering the use of plates with a length of 4.88 m with the stub length being 9.76 m. Using free cantilever concreting trolleys, individual plates are concreted to the stub in a symmetrical manner to create a balance beam; subsequently, the plates are attached to the stub by means of tensioning cables.
